An Update Letter from Dr. Haack

Dear Townline Families,

Happy Friday!  I hope you are staying warm.  Here are a few updates from Townline!

Online Report Cards are coming

As you may know, Hawthorn Middle School South and Hawthorn Middle School North no longer generate paper copies of student report cards. Instead, they share report cards with families electronically. In an effort to better streamline our communication with all district families, we are working to make this same transition at the elementary level. Benefits to online report cards include more timely reporting to parents, easy parent access to both current and past report cards, and reduced costs tied to paper and printing. Online report cards are also environmentally friendly!

On March 19th, we will share instructions for how you may access your child’s report card via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Once you log into this secure, user-friendly portal, you may easily open and even download your child’s report card. In preparation, you may want to visit the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://ps.hawthorn73.org/public and log into your secure account. If you do not remember your username or password, please click “Forgot username or password?” on the PowerSchool Parent Portal homescreen.

If you would prefer to receive a paper copy of your child’s report card, please contact our main office at 847.990.4901  and we will print one for you. We are looking forward to providing you with easy access to your child’s progress reports via electronic reporting!

Reminders for car pick up:

  • Please pull as far up as possible in order for us to load as many students as possible at a time.

  • Please encourage your child to learn to buckle themselves in.  When parents get out of the vehicle in line to buckle students in, it slows down the dismissal process.

  • If you have not already done so, please write your child’s first name and grade level with permanent marker on your orange sign.  This will help speed up the collection of names.

  • With the cold and snowy weather, we anticipate more students being picked up via car.  As a result our car line will be longer and could take longer. We thank you in advance for your patience.

5Essentials Survey

It is not too late to take the parent 5Essentials Survey. You feedback matters and this is one way for you to provide feedback.  Thank you to all of families who have completed the 5Essentials survey. If you have not already done so, we would love to hear what you think through the completion of the survey.

If you would like to take the survey, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ and select Parent Survey.

  2. Select the language to complete the survey (English or Spanish are available)

  3. Enter email address (optional), county of your child’s school (Lake), and school name (Hawthorn Townline).

  4. Be sure to  click Submit Survey at the end.
